i mean I would describe any self serving action that is deliberately harmful disproportionately to the benefit, as “evil”
its evil to kill people for fun, because it’s disproportionately harmful for some benefit.
Stealing from target is not evil because while its self-serving and potentially harms other, the self benefit outweighs the harm to another.
Making a strawberry dessert for yourself and a friend instead of a blueberry one because you like strawberries more, but then you later find out your friend is allergic to strawberries is not evil, even if disproportionately self-serving, because it wasn’t intentionally disproportionately self serving

Yes, this boils down to the definition of “motivation of supernatural / religious / cartoonish” vs. definition of “description of an action”. I also use evil in the second definition, i dont think in cartoons. If the terms arent defined well it leads to one of those numerous arguments that solely exists due to lack of communication. A lot of people do enjoy these and purposefully seek them out.
