I think one of the best examples of this is how much my understanding of what it means to be transgender has really come about as a consequence of talking with people who are and attempting to truly understand what they’re saying

that ain’t just natural to know, as somebody who isn’t, and so having conversations and actively seeking out opportunities to learn more about the experiences of others is key to making sure you yourself are able to treat them as they wish to be treated
