somebody on reddi tthen went like “hey, you might not have known this but the guy you’re supporting here is actually pretty misogynistic! might wanna stop supporting him” and one of the devs went on a pretty long tirade responding to that persons comment (and then going on the official factorio twitter account to continue instead of their own account) about how cancel culture is destroying america and also never really said that the guy who was being misogynstic did anything wrong, which was like the main thing. i might be misremembering a few details tbf its been a few years.

esp depending on who you ask
i was wround for when it occurred so i actually remember a ton of stuff
but like you look in threads nowadays and the story that is told is much different than what happened and much more forgiving to the factorio devs (i.e someone said “the devs were told they can’t use this controversial figure in their post and they said they were going to anyway then TWITTER LOST THEIR MIND!” ) and like, thats not what happened. some people also said the entire thing proves that the devs are super transphobic and naxis and tons of other stuff and like that is also too far in the other direction. the dev did a shitty thing, im not gonna support them, but its up to others to try and do their own research into what actually ahppened since most of it (except for deleted reddit comments lol) in public access areas.
