dont worry ashie-bashie,

at least you don’t have two monitors

it’s a valid reaction honestly. quizbowl is a vortex from which you cannot escape (except for the like three quarters of people who play novice tournaments who never play. and the many people who do escape)

I mean, I escaped.
The trick is just to be bad.

community’s pretty cool though. if you’re okay with interacting with the occasional person who ties just a little too much of their self worth to their quizbowl skill (i am to a nontrivial extent this person unfortunately)

dammit you could’ve put bee cave in the national scene

in all honestly the texas high school quizbowl organization kinda sucks. they’re notorious for overcharging and for being borderline dictatorial about dissent

erm actually bee cave is just my place of residence but my school was ACTUALLY in a totally different austin exurban town

mix up bee cave and barton creek one more time and we can’t be friends

at one NASAT (the tournament where states send their all star teams to compete against each other) texas sent 4 teams. three of them were TQBA teams. one of them was Kinkaid, a high school that was banned from TQBA tournaments and finished higher than 2 of the 3 TQBA teams
