honestly that’s vaguely equivalent, but despite being a rung or two down the ladder it would still be awfully bold
athena is extremely common name in greece. i think only abrahamic religions are so super uppity about their god’s name. other religions are chill about people naming themselves after it, or imagery of their gods. i dont think any japanese person would care if somebody called themself kami
Hail Satan
Amaterasu? Nah call her Ammy
disclaimer: they wouldn’t care more than they would usually care; their usual judging*, is what i meant
I think there’s a notable difference between being given a name with larger implications, and choosing one for yourself

merely that it’s bold
LOVE the botcu guy who named himself Lucifer
If I were a little younger when I accepted I was changing my name you KNOW I would’ve been named after some kind of goddess
and that woulda been bold too
Maybe I wouldn’t have cause May just felt like the correct name as soon as I decided on it while I did call myself various names in my head including goddess-ones and they never felt quite right
It’s important to be bold when you’re like 13. Crucial to do this. Everybody needs a phase of boldness
You gotta get it out of your system

they took wild west fm and made it worse
I don’t use chess dot com but I did make an account once and the name is still MayPersephone

your mom is named after a saint (i know because i confess to her when i do sins and she comforts me)
True but it is also why they should get the chance to make non-permanent life-modifying decisions so they have the chance to better understand who they are as a person
