athena is extremely common name in greece. i think only abrahamic religions are so super uppity about their god’s name. other religions are chill about people naming themselves after it, or imagery of their gods. i dont think any japanese person would care if somebody called themself kami

I think there’s a notable difference between being given a name with larger implications, and choosing one for yourself

Hence why I say it is “bold”

I don’t say “how dare you” or “whatever culture will not appreciate that”

merely that it’s bold

Maybe I wouldn’t have cause May just felt like the correct name as soon as I decided on it while I did call myself various names in my head including goddess-ones and they never felt quite right
