iâm not trying to like sway you as much as state a material observation about our economy. we spent hundreds of millions or billions of dollars in taxpayer money each year for livestock and on the crops used to make animal feed. no one would buy a hamburger if they actually had to pay what it cost if you remove all subsidies from the supply chain and pay each laborer along the way a living wage. a plain, solid color t-shirt made by union shop in the US costs like $50, but branded shirts made overseas are sold for like $10-20. theyâre being shipped across an ocean and have graphics printed on them and are somehow less than half the price or even a fifth. companies do this, pay for to license a brand, and somehow make a profit. when you look at how the $50 shirt is made and how your money is distributed versus the $10 shirt, what you find isnât exactly heartening. itâs like this up and fucking down our market, and the garbage we buy from amazon/temu.
see what subway doesnât realize is that they canât get away with raising prices because the only reason to ever go to subway is its cheapness. if i canât get the mediocre for cheap i might as well get something good
fucking whore.jpg
we were all thinking it
breakfast: nothing
lunch: whatever the dining hall has
dinner: whatever the dining hall has
2:15 am: whatever food my bf has at his apartment
yeah exactly. this is perhaps the most fucked up part of the recent price increases. itâs not even a correction, itâs just naked corporate greed

it is hilarious to me that a particular unnamed orange politician campaigned on curbing risijg grocery prices while also making the keys of his policy blanket tariffs and stopping illegal immigration/doing mass deportations, which are the two policies I would implement if I wanted groceries to get wildly more expensive
yep
anyone that thinks the tariffs is going to make things cheaper fundamentally misunderstands how tariffs work lol
so, 40% of america?
I think in general people donât expect tariffs to make things cheaper
yeah. apparently hasan was arguing with some other streamer who was a trump supporter, and he took the time to explain exactly how tariffs work, and how that was going to dramatically increase the overhead of the goods in that streamerâs merch store. the streamer listened to all of it, and then said âi donât think thatâs how tariffs workâ
instead they just think that tariffs/deportations will turbocharge the job market
