An Attempt at a Sorc 17er - Game Thread

VOTE: IcetFeelsPain.
This is out of respect for Hazard’s read. I don’t really scumread Guava and Lol’s behaviour earlier genuinely reminds me of Wild West, in that his actions doesn’t really click as an evil for me. If our top three wagons are all pure than it’s absolutely rough but it’s a spur of the moment thing.

(Scumreading me is lazy when I should be super clear off meta imo, but whatever.)

hazard, what i picked up from last game is that you tend to have a habit of defending consensus poe slots just because there isn’t a rock solid mega outting wolfcase against them but the reality is in most mafia games this doesn’t really happen, especially this early. in fact most times this does happen it’s by a villager who is confbiased and their read is actually just ~rand. on day 2 last game when everyone just kinda accepted porscha was dying, you seemed anxious about it despite the fact there was basically no reason to think they were town and several light reasons to think they were a wolf. i think this may just be caused by your personality - you’re very worried about making a mistake and as a result overthink things. but sometimes i think you should just keep it simple, especially if you aren’t confidently wolfreading anyone

i used to do a similar thing. i still kind of do. i sometimes get too fancy and jump through loops to talk myself out of scumreading the obvious consensus wolf then look dumb the next day. what i’ve noticed helps keep me grounded is reminding myself of the fact that 4 people in this game have to be a wolf, and it would make more sense to kill people who have little reason to be town even if the reasons for them being a wolf aren’t massively convincing. it’s low risk and low accountability. we can look into harder worlds later

if i’m misunderstanding and you think guava has done something towny, then i’d be willing to discuss that with you. but i just don’t really think they have. i think the posts they made after returning weren’t an improvement - they just engaged in some trivial discourse with your slot and agent’s over semantics, and voted agent for blatantly lying about something, which is very surface level, similar to their earlier reads which i also took issue with. i don’t get the impression that guava has a holistic worldview of the game so far which is more likely to come from a wolf, or someone disinterested in playing, but i feel like they are more likely to be disinterested as mafia so it seems to be a bad look either way

great post

@Arete still not finding arctic as town?

i read your more recent posts and what i think is happening is that you’re experiencing the issue of not having read everyone in the game which means that when you read one slot and find something slightly towny from them you want to place them above the other slots you haven’t yet read, but as someone who has read the entire game, i can tell you that there are much better reasons to townread the slots you probably haven’t read than guava

they are probably going to say if guava is town it’s wolfy, which i guess they aren’t wrong about, if i wanted to kill guava as a wolf i would probably make a post like that, but if the wagons were v/v (since people don’t think i’m a wolf with lol) it’s kinda unnecessary for me to actually care about which one dies

i think he might be mafia again - my reason to townread him for high efforting and enjoying the game is moot since he disappeared after highposting early which could have been burnout as mafia

he also felt w/w with guava to me but this isn’t a point against him (yet)

wow u basically said the same thing as me lmao

honestly dude you basically sum up every time i make a scum case. i wanna be fancy with it i dont wanna execute someone cause of vibes cause it feels not good enough for other standards. maybe i do gotta make more risker plays but then the issue is unironically i dont want people to think i ruined a game or threw the game cause i made an awful read. both those things together kinda give you my head space every game and why i always enlongate me calling anyone scum. cause simply i dont wanna be wrong and have others disapointed - h

plus arete feels … whats the word. they feel like they’re struggling to get in the groove. like. i feel like them writing their posts is taking them effort. they dont seem chill. mafia

you only have one vote, and using it wrongly now and again won’t make anyone think of you as a worse player or that you threw the game. trust me i’ve seen “throwing the game” before and it looks nothing like that. you put way too much thought into what you do such that even if you were wrong i wouldn’t consider it throwing, and this is much better than the alternative of not thinking about things at all

i’m gonna do what achro always says and say that i’m pretty good at detecting when people’s paranoia of me is real or fake, and that i’m pretty good at reading people pushing me. and i think arete is town. i can feel the scaredness. they do this a lot. i think the exact way in which they are scared of me follows closely from how the last wolfgame they experienced with me went - they said the reason for the me and lol difference check was because they noted we had the same read on lol but were scared that they were being egged on by wolf!me because this is basically what happened in that wolfgame - i shared similar reads to arete and were pushing stuff with them. i think they could fake this, so they’re not towncore, but i can follow their reasons for being scared and it matches up well enough even though they aren’t actually very good

Nah. TMI.

This sounds like wolf agenda.

Nah YBW is town, there is also only 4 mafia in this game.

Last thing till I arrive to work.
I did a test and it worked.
All wolves got spewed because none of their reacted meaning they panic’ed in wolf chat instead.

I’m assuming Hazard went to sleep so I’m willing to post a decent amount here. My eyes glazed over YBW’s ISO because it starts out strong but then loses texture, so it doesn’t actively click in my head but that’s fine.

You dare accuse me of TMI?

Summary

YBW begins the game by forming townreads on Arctic and Tutuu, and a scumread on Baker. This reads are independent of one another (and are therefore less constrained than they would be together). This will be important in a minute.

Summary

YBW more or less decided to turn around and scumread Arctic, tailoring posts to fit that worldview with only a couple “this seems fine” moments which don’t really impact the flavour of this scumread. When Arctic protests this read, YBW tried justifying it to him, appealing by backing down on the strength of her read proportionate to how many times she brought it up during the game:

Summary

YBW’s scumread on Baker resembles the above mentions of Arctic, once: after that she just backs down without any ado in the pursuit of scumreading Arctic.

Then she remembers her vote and starts waffling on Baker again.

Other one note things about scumreading Lol but only really mentioning that once, saying a few times that players were feeling off, having suspicions of more than four players, etcetera.
