@otterpopd You’re doing a perfect job impersonating me. (Of course you are, seeing as you’re my alt.) Would just like to make sure you know that there’s a postcap and if you post too many times in a day they send an explode beam at you and you blow up and it is VERY sad so posts are the limited luxury resouce. Ok thanks have a good sus day

Summary

alright so this post is, uh, kind of :joy_cat: regardless of Seth’s alignment [I am trying really hard to be nice here and this is the nicest thing I could come up with that wasn’t a lie] but just to clear up a couple especially Notable points

my reasoning for thinking this was that it was already an incredibly forced joke and I know you often go in for the idea of ‘I’m going to have over-the-top interactions with my partners to look unaligned,’ which made me think you could be doing that with Magnus

this is word salad to the point that I am genuinely unsure what it means? my best guess is ‘there are more town than wolves so any individual you do that with is more likely, statistically, to be town than a wolf if you do it at random’ which is true but does not mean it can’t be >rand wolf for you to do it with someone [if the math here is confusing I can explain it more but I don’t think that’s super relevant]

I mean I think that you were trying to discredit it I just … think you were doing it disingenuously :joy_cat:

this statement is kind of wild because in fact I did do it in a joke like way and yet he’s trying to use it to shade me :joy_cat:

the entire reasoning here is ‘Arete called me a wolf so they are a wolf’

I was planning to only clear up the parts that might actually be confusing but this is really funny :joy_cat:

(unfortunately this is the sort of thing Seth might actually believe so it’s not a strong update either way)

the thing I was implying is that you were TMIing me town by implying I was being a bad villager rather than a wolf. I think that the actual post you wrote

pretty clearly carries that implication

I also struggle to believe that Zorvo believes that I’m so familiar with his meta that I would automatically know the exact turns of phrasing he’s used in his most recent wolfgames – I haven’t played on FoL since PAC, I don’t read every post in every game, I actually checked the game thread for the last game where he randed wolf and I never posted in it so I don’t think he would reasonably have assumed that I had read the whole thing

yeah I forgot about that rule, that’s on me

the question stands though, self-voting to do nothing doesn’t really make sense even if it’s a different kind of not making sense than selfvoting after barely any pressure

(this logic also doesn’t follow but it’s the sort of not following that Seth unfortunately sometimes believes as town)

Blitz read on Zorvo before I go:

Zorvo

Clearly missing around, names me out of nowhere.

Paranoia? Zorvo’s called out early interactions as being more meaningful than they appear as Town.

Did this weird grouping as Town before.

Can confirm we’ve joked, but I hadn’t been active in the thread before then. You clearly picked me out in full awareness of what you were doing.

I don’t see Neon as a power player, I see Neon as a strong social player. For the record.

For the record, given how passive Zorvo played the end of last game, this is exactly how he’d want to play as a wolf here. But he wouldn’t call me out as a joke if we were aligned. He’d try to distance and get credit if and when I flipped, or vice versa.

Need to see how this evolves, and how I read Arete.

Self-voting hurts your team irrespective of your alignment, and you said you were trying to improve a few games back. You haven’t self-voted in a while.
Zorvo didn’t self-vote last game, so he might be trying to mimic his earlier gameplay. FTR.

I’m Town Two-Shot Targeting Jailkeeper. Twice per game, I can automatically jailkeep the Mafia killer.

Think self-confidence is rand>v for Zorvo.

I don’t think this is convincing on its own. I’ll look at everything once I’m home.

Please analyse nightkills, everyone.
“Everyone townreads this person but they’ve survived six days straight… gee.”

Result: Nulltown, needs more data.

Also I lied about my role. I’m neutral Arsonist. I can douse once every time I reach the postcap daily.

ElizaThePsycho (2): May, Arete
May (1): Arctic
Zorvo (1): ElizaThePsycho
Arete (1): Zorvo

Not Voting (10): Aleph, Lemonfairy, Magnus, Jarek, Arogame123, otterpopd, Phraze, Neon, mollylikesorigami, Prisma101

For the record, I don’t quite understand what Zorvo is saying at this point, though I am not so much of a coward as to say I never will, but from what I’ve seen so far, he’s clearly working to achieve knowledge here.

When I played with him as wolf in Starcraft, he sure stuck around in thread, talked, and noted some reads down, but it didn’t feel like he was an active participant in the game trying to provoke anything, just an observer making… well, observations, and seeing if he could get any suspicions to stick on someone.

Because of that stark difference in playstyle, and the fact that doing incomprehensible shit for reactions is townie no matter who’s doing it, I soft townread him for now, though given I was suspecting him on and off all game specifically because I noticed this tell, it’s not anything definitive; I think that, upon randing wolf after Starcraft, Zorvo’d specifically avoid repeating the exact tells he got called out on in that game - people are learning, changing beings, and so a distinctive opposite of someone’s last wolfgame can also be a tell.

^ That was all one sentence. I was going to make it longer, but I do want to value communicating actual mafia game information over the bit and I was running up against that barrier.

Speaking of brief openers & responses to the Q&A, Lemon’s here. Hi, Lemon. You’ll be seeing this when you wake up. Are you going to townread me this time around or nah. After a near-identical opening to Eliza’s, I soft read those two as not W/W, though Lemon specifically noted needing to catch up, so maybe she just… didn’t read? I think a wolf would read, though, and lie about not reading. So I think the read still stands.

This post from Magnus is very funny, and also >rand wolf.

I think that, if there’s wolves in thread right now, at least one is probably trying to look like a bit of a tryhard. That probably means Zorvo, who I currently TR, Atlas, and Arete. For the sake of beautiful, wonderful, fleeting earlygame confidence, I will discount the possibility of Zorvo being a wolf. I wouldn’t go as far to call the latter two not W/W, it’s entirely possible IMO, but I think if they are, the third wolf probably hasn’t posted yet? Or is Phraze.

Out of the two, I think Arete is the more likely wolf, as their opening Q&A was free “content” without content and Arctic is engaging with my earlygame reads exactly how I want people to - giving proper reactions to them, pushing others to interact with them, that sort of thing. That’s an easy pocket, so Arctic’s town for now. I don’t know why the brain machine won’t give Arete the same credit for doing something quite similar, but it won’t, so that’s how things are.

That leaves my shining, ephemeral, divine D1 readlist as follows:

Zorvo
Arctic
Otter & Phraze
Eliza & Lemon
Magnus
Arete

With the nonposters remaining Aleph, Jarek, Aro, Neon, Molly, & Prisma.

  2. definitely v, like okay, i can wolf without dying irl, but three in a row sounds like a bit much for me lol

  3. haven’t seen anyone here as both alignments. i think the person here i trust most to be findable if town is zorvo?

My entrance post was in mention to the prior person who spoke last (Magnus)
There are multiple players on the playerlist.

So for the chances of both to occur with both being W/W (me and Magnus) you would know is low.

Forced joke? That isn’t how I Interrupted that.
Can you not make a read?

Arete is fake here. They should have known what the former meant and do you guys believe that the W/W Me and Magnus thing W/W was a “forced” joke despite how Arete handled my responses?

You don’t think it was genuine sarcasm.
Ok Arete.

Issue is though, this is not how I interrupted it.
There wasn’t an indicate of it, or at least I didn’t see it.

No that’s not it, you know better then that.
Your just going by “oh Seth usually votes players who wolf read them so I’ll use that one”
Doesn’t work. I’m not voting you cause your voting me I’m voting you for everything I’ve stated in my case against you that you are reading, don’t try me.

Yeah I get that, but I wouldn’t do that.
You made a bad post regardless of if your wolf or town.

You are a person I’d expect to read up on this kind of stuff.

That’s something I can see from me.
It’s something I can except from others.

However.
You saying how you haven’t read any of my previous meta nor fully read the setup and remembered it or didn’t even check after I self voted?

Yeah no I’m not buying it.

You were there in thread so it isn’t nowhere. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Also May can be town for having correct and good read on me.
If they are wolf they know how to get under my skin.
Although they better kill me before my re eval phase.

I won’t couch this in too many words: I agree with Zorvo, Arete’s pinging a bit wolfy to me, VOTE: Arete

Welcome to the game of mafia where we play to make reads and find wolves.

I found a wolf, take a look:

That… doesn’t really help i dont even know how to vote so your “vote (i don’t remember their name)” propaganda wont work

You can’t just throw words at people as soon as they enter the thread and expect it to work.

Here’s a start: hi, @Prisma101, it’s earlygame and none of us know what the hell we’re talking about so we’re all padding everything with lots of paragraphs and hoping people don’t notice it’s all an act. Don’t worry about it. All of this will be forgotten soon enough.

And you can vote using the hammer button in the post formatting options or by using [v]USERNAME[/ v] tags (without the space).
