BOTC/BOTF Discussion Thread 2

i think on the forums its best to just
wind it all back and let everyone have their 24h break because some people definitely need it

its a similar reason longterm cere is annoying
but its made worse by the fact it isn’t just your role, you could have a dreamer information that someone’s 100% demon and have to talk through the night like you don’t know, or shut up entirely

Madness locking someone is a valid strategy, although I’d rather madness juggle. It’s funny to make someone mad they’re the Savant D5.

I dunno, I’ve never been the Cerenovus.

i have never used an ability once in botf

You were the Philosopher turned Savant in XVI.

vortox

You still used an ability.

you successfully used your philosopher ability even though you failed to use your savant ability you gained from it

incorrect:
i was the malfunctioning Philosopher, not philo savant

im wrong anyway because i was puzzlemaster once but
im still mad

my philo ability malfunctioned

Vortox doesn’t make roles malfunction.
Your Philo ability worked.

give me a second i gotta win this argument

“Each night*, choose a player; they die. Townsfolk abilities yield false info. Each day, if no-one is executed, evil wins.”

i couldn’t find anything related to if drunkness would effect townsfolk character changes
but i know it means town alignment changes aren’t allowed so
like any politician im going to assume the lack of information calling me wrong means im right

false info and drunkness are two different things but im decently sure the latter applies to both

false info has lots of precedent of, well, only implying to info
you are correct about drunkenness stopping your character change ability

however, “false info” does not have any effect on non-information abilities. For example, if you were alive when the shenanigans:tm: happened you would have gotten sober healthy savant information because you genuinely had the savant ability and the vortox became out of play

if you had changed into the snake charmer and picked mist, the vortox would have zero impact on your abilities’ function

I’ll let someone else confirm or disprove what I think would happen.

As a once per game ability, if the Philosopher is drunk while choosing an ability, they won’t actually gain that ability. However, given how droisoning isn’t supposed to be made apparent, they would believe they did, but it wouldn’t do anything (they would effectively be a Drunk from now on).

this is correct
if they were to stop being poisoned for whatever reason (such as pit hag removed the no dashii next to them), then they are considered to be a spent once-per-game role with no extra abilities, and thus would not be woken ever again (even if they chose a waking role like dreamer while droisoned)

i originally thought this would just happen with vortox aswell but yeah
its false info not drunkness
i got to play the game once n1 for a few minutes

noting to never trust and play with those “town” when i could be “cool snake charmer”

it basically doesn’t count but the statement that you actually said was wrong on a technicality

You could’ve gone Philosopher Dreamer, checked me, and when I claimed Mathematician because of the role swap you could’ve death tunnelled me, but not been able to explain it because you were Ceremad.
