Indeed, Vigormortis replaced Skinkulus as the fourth S&V Demon. They needed something else that would keep causing the Oracle to see dead evil players. Plus Vigor is great utility for the evil team in S&V because it negates the biggest tell town has for dead Minions (their very obvious ability effects stop occurring) and it additionally prevents town from removing those Minion effects, making town’s job that much harder.

The tradeoff, of course, is limited misinformation and the dilution of evil voting power (since every Minion Vigor kills is down to a ghost vote).

I should add that a Vigor Mortis becomes obvious when there are obvious minion abilities still in play, even at F3.

to be fair, you can’t detect an f3 witch or cerenovus, and f3 evil twin with vigor alive is its own problem for the good team (aka the game gets called)

f3 pit hag, however, has the license to do funnee stuff like turn themselves into fisherman (or savant in snv)

Vigor Mortis doesn’t work with TB minions well, unless it’s specifically the Poisoner.
Vigor + BMR minions only works well with Devil’s Advocate. Vigored Assassin + GF are situational.

one of the largest appeals of botc is that you can still fully engage with the game if you’re dead
forcibly removing voting powers is not a thing in any of existing botc roles for a reason
because its not fun

also note that all good → evil conversions in the game (aside from fang gu) are intentional on the part of the role that is being converted
cult leader, goon, snake charmer have it baked into their abilities
mezepheles has a word that you have to say
the reason for this is simple: being converted when you dont want to be can be pretty not fun
Fang Gu can get away with this conversion because

  1. there are only 1-3 outsiders in the game, who all know they have a decent chance of being converted from the get-go in a fang gu script
  2. the fang gu converts you into a demon so you never feel expendable

Skinkulus can convert anyone and converts them into goons who cant even vote
It’s like, trying to create the worst experience possible for them

also the “even if you lose this ability” is jank as hell

needless to say, this also goes on top of the whole “gender is idiotic” thing
