If the evil team was half the town then yes they definitely did, your claim was shady from the beginning and if you were gonna die you may as well have claimed sweetheart, since you knew it was a fang gu game if you really were sweetheart as your very existence would imply it
The only way is for leafia to say it and Ruby just had to go with it
