to be fair, chairman existed in nwc that could switch the demon in a similar fashion
additionally, this game has no evil team info manipulation (i.e. mechanics that give the demon fake minions) or characters who don’t know their role or alignment (like nwc’s sleeper or libertine)
additionally, no mechanics that rely on who you have whispered exist

these are likely the reasons why they called it “less bs”

if you are the loyal doppelganger, you and a cultist know each other’s identities
loyals cannot win while you both live, but even if the doppelgangee is dead, you dont block the game from ending
due to the way the doppelganger’s ability is worded, only the Loyal one’s execution ends the game: if you are the loyal doppelganger and you are executed, you lose. If you are the loyal doppelganger and the cultist you saw is executed, the game continues.

its ~neutral because it forces a pair like the evil doppelganger but you get the bonus of knowing a particular player is a particular minion
