in my experience remainder is ill-defined and never used in advanced mathematics while modulo is used all the time bc its defined more rigorously and usefully so i personally equate the two

I donāt think Iāve been asked to take the remainder of a negative number ever because I havenāt actually seen remainders outside middle school math
when you get to undergrad/graduate level math though you get formally introduced to modulo and you modulo everything
its one of the core principles ideas for a full branch of mathematics
you modulo by integers, you modulo by field elements, you modulo by polynomials
one of the core proofs, the proof of quadratic reciprocity, is typically proven by raising a sum of complex numbers to the power of a prime and moduloāing by another prime
itās very powerful and useful to mathematicians in a way that remainder isnāt
this isnt an āim rightā sort of thing as much as it is a ālets learn about mathā thing
Iāve just read so much wrong math and just arguing about it. This was really disappointing. Yall cant just say screw your math Iām to ignorant to learn and say your right still. -666 aināt between 1-20 unless u stated a way for it to get to that point through like division. Remainders arent decimals.
