Do you want to ask me why I would ever philo into lunatic, because the thought process is more sound than it first sounds.
It also opens up the most worlds possible, I could be poisoned or that wild number from a philo might just be real. Could be poisoned could be lying. Never know. 
We all know I was lying now so I’m having fun discussing my thought process this probably sounds pretentious though. I’ll stop if people want.
That’s actually not a terrible idea. Philosopher goes before the Demon, so they’d assume you’re a starting Lunatic and they might try to manipulate you. And you’d poison the actual Lunatic, so there wouldn’t be a weird second Lunatic peek.
Yeah basically the idea is that if you do it right away the demon learns your name, not the real lunatics name. You get some information off of what happens on the first nights due to that.
If you die immediately, It’s likely a fang gu. Otherwise, you can in theory manipulate night-kills with your picks. If the demon thinks they’re fooling you, they might just roll with it and you’ll be picking bad kills like ravenkeepers…
Obviously the bluffs, the demon token and given minions will be a complete lie but the real power is in the social aspect.
Also sometimes the demon likes to talk to the lunatic and bluff minion so…

Philo goes dead first. If you philo’d into damsel all the minions would learn that a PHILO is in play, not a damsel.

Philo Mutant is a pick you make if you’re a saint, because it makes the real mutant able to break madness as much as they want and never die, and you can’t break your own madness either because you can simply claim to be the philo who philo’d mutant

i chose savant because the sts told me that the part of my role seemed kinda useless
and savant was the funniest role i saw
i considered snake charmer but realized i had to deal with the consequences of my actions
and i wouldve felt too bad if i poisoned a dreamer
