The Drunk’s ability makes the player believe they’re a Townsfolk when they aren’t. In that regard, I’d consider their ability to be working fine for a Mathematician when a droisoned Townsfolk with the same token wouldn’t be.

A malfunction is when someone’s ability doesn’t work properly
