The first ā€œmisconceptiomā€ was on purpose it was a reference to a post. The ā€œmisconcemptiomā€ was an accident but itā€™s extremely funny

I spent ages trying to find the post I was referencing through Google and then I discovered that the reason I couldnā€™t seem to find it is because it was my friendā€™s 6-note post.

All six of those notes were me repeatedly reblogging it.

Iā€™d learn a conlang if I was worldbuilding
It would be useful in helping to understand how to build languages for my settings

except itā€™s fantasy so you can build your language however you want :wowee:

a language that real people do not speak on a day to day basis during their daily lives
thieves cant is a fake language
elvish is a fake language
toki pona is a fake language
klingon is a fake language

and while yes, toki pona is probably easier to learn than other languages because of how it was made, that doesnā€™t change the fact that you could apply those same skills and processes over a longer period of time to learn something actually useful!

if you enjoy the process of learning a language i see no logical reason why that canā€™t be applied to learning a real language instead

with that being said, i understand human beings are obviously not always driven by logic, but i think my point stands

Go tell them Sissel!

the non-logical pov that i can somewhat understand being ā€œdang my friend learned how to speak this fake useless language, i now want to learn it so i dont feel left outā€

which is silly but fair

i think theres different goals in mind for learning a ā€œrealā€ language
also, said languages arent really designed due to evolving over an extended period of time which can make them very frustrating to learn as an outsider
conlangs generally explore interesting concepts not usually seen in common languages too

language, to many, doesnt seem like a thing to enjoy and rather a thing of function
and thats understandable. its not for everyone
but to some people it is something to be enjoyed and that would give them a completely different perspective than yours
its very important to keep that in mind

Yeah but the difference between the shorter period of time and the longer period of time is like, a day versus months or years. Iā€™ve spent days on much more useless things than learn funny philosophy language. I once even downloaded Genshin Impact

One day worth of studying a real language is worth more than one day studying toki pona imo

you need to disclose these kinds of things. i thought you only played puyo puyo, splatoon and mahjong but theres a FOURTH?

All my friends were playing it, so I finally caved and downloaded it. I then proceeded to spend somethign like fifteen consecutive hours playing the game, got zero sleep, and then immediately deleted it because it scared me too much.

I think the issue there was that I wasnā€™t treating it like a mobile game, my brain registered it as Normal Video Game, and Normal Video Games arenā€™t designed for you to play them forever. I was trying to ā€œbeatā€ Genshin Impact. You canā€™t beat Genshin Impact youā€™re supposed to just keep playing it and send them all your money
