when I was like 12 or 13 there was this teen writing forum that I never posted on but read sometimes and at some point someone had a Teen Pregnancy and I read through the entire Teen Pregnancy Thread and was like ‘wait, this has a kind of absurd number of coincidences…’ and I talked about it with my mom and she was like ‘yeah this specific medical detail is wrong’ and I was Shocked that someone had just come to the forum and lied

There was someone on my old forum… everyone loved them, they claimed to be an adult, a teacher, with a boyfriend who’d log on sometimes… constantly talking about adopting cats and naming them after forum members (I was very jealous of the people who got cat named), all the animals she saved… had a big dramatic saga claiming to have broken her leg running into the street to save a baby bird. She was caught posting a stock photo of her alleged ultrasound quite a few months into it. Turns out she’d lied about all of it.

Some of my friends were really upset about it, they were good friends with her. I was mostly happy that there were no real cats that I missed out on being named after.
