it be like that sometimes

Friends & I kept playing solitaire mahjong, like the kind for Windows, during Among Us nights, leading us to invent fictional game night “Mahjong Mondays”. Now I spent 2-8 hours every Monday playing mahjong. As well as other times

You draw and discard tiles to build your own hand into a winning (and preferably high scoring) hand. But if you discard the last tile someone else needs to win, they can call it off you, and you owe them all the points their hand scores. So it’s a game of constantly deciding whether to push and improve your own hand, or fold and discard tiles you know your opponents don’t need

oh ive played a card game like that
but there was only 3 card hands

Folding is dynamic, you can start or stop folding at any time. It’s a decision you have to actively and constantly make, evaluating the risk-reward of the hand you’d achieve versus the loss from dealing in. You can lazy-fold and just play a little safer than usual but still try to push your luck. And if you slip up you can lose at any point. It is a lot of fun

Probably some variant of rummy, since it’s based on mahjong

ive played rummy
i was horrible at it
but i think so, mhm
