OH WE SHOULD TELL BENGUIN ABOUT DECK MAFIA
fear
Once on Discord mafia the spec chat were setting up a bingo board on N0 and one square was âMay gets targeted by 3+ actionsâ and that square got filled before they could even finish making hte bingo board
wow
a nice new face comes to FoL and you IMMEDIATELY want to drop the psychic damage that is deck mafia???
smh arete
fear doesnât even begin to describe it
once a game got canned in the middle of night 2 because the hosts accidentally made mafia chat public
no i do not know how they managed to do this
Once on Discord mafia I randed cop as usual and I died like N2 because the SKs (joint SK role) thought I specifically Wasnât cop & people convinced themselves that the 1-vote wagon I had stuck on all day before I died was me crumbing an investigation. The guy was mafia but I hadnât investigated him I was just stubborn
One time a game had to be reranded because it was multiball and I somehow ended up in both mafia chats
Me when the mafia gossip chamber gets uncovered
a future meta-based game had the host responsible as a cop that checked to see whether a player was in mafia chat but they were secretly paranoid because well
once a cop declared a townread on someone and then when they died everyone assumed they were greenchecked. the cop had never investigated this person but their townread just happened to be right
One time I was cop in a mafia game, but my role was âyou know there are two cops in the game, one regular and one inverted, and you donât know which you areâ, and my hydra hinted at our flavour by repeatedly talking about eggs (it was based on a Blaseball modification called Hard-Boiled) & also hinted at our investigative results by tunnelling this one team forever & ever and it took several game days for the rest of the chat to notice that we had been hinting our role by Talking About Eggs
They called it egg code anmd someone wrote a song about it
The only people that picked up on egg code before we died were wolves. That alongside âIâm gay lolâ were how they knew to kill us
alright, so essentially, the basic concept behind Deck Mafia is that itâs a series of games (not necessarily with the same players each game), and after every game, the winners get âcardsâ to add to their âdeck,â which they can spend in future games to get specific PRs
this is theoretically something that could be an interesting concept, except the guy who runs the games is pretty at setup design so occasionally the games end up being wildly broken in one direction or another
so he was going along, running his games on MU, and at some point they were like âmy dude you cannot simply take up all the queue slots, you will need to leave some of them for other peopleâ
and he was like âokay, can we have our own subforum on MU for the Deck Mafia community?â
and they were like âyou are not a community, that is not how this worksâ
and he got really mad and wrote an angry wallpost the full text of which I do not have on hand about how the mods were treating him unfairly, and then went off to make his own site
now, he also had a Patreon. one of the things he was able to do now that he wasnât hosting on MU was give out rewards to people who subscribed to his Patreon. this took the form of special cards called âgods vs. demonsâ cards that were significantly more powerful than normal cards.
he continued to insist at every opportunity that the games were Balanced and that they were Not Pay To Win
i played a game once where it was known that there were 4 cops who received identical roletexts but one was sane, one was insane, one was paranoid, and one was naive. the sane one claimed for no reason and then unrelatedly died by sheer random chance. the insane one got culted on night 1. i donât remember what happened to the naive one but the paranoid one lived to endgame but we all knew they were paranoid
this post is several sentences long and has not even begun to scratch the surface of Deck Mafia
one time he posted signups for an open setup (not Deck Mafia-related) and I wrote up an explanation in the signups thread for how it was extremely unbalanced and broken by massclaim and he stealth-edited the OP and was like âoh you just missed this bit right here about the soup kill :)â and then continued to try to lie about it after I called him out
