Oh yeah fun fact: you nearly outed yourself with that. No action in the game with a public condition was failable. Kanave mentioned this kinda because part of her role was figuring how to use her actions and target someone. She spent 10 minutes figuring out that she could target 1 to 5 players, but it was only because we told her “invalid submission” whenever she could not submit. I’m not sure anyone took this point seriously though.

Hell, Eliza could have tested this with the spam vigi ability or anyone could have asked me if the spam vigi could knowingly submit an illegal target and received an accurate answer.

Effect is generally a noun, affected is generally a verb (easiest way to check is if it can be replaced by the word “impact”). However, effect can be a verb, but it’s meaning is pretty narrow. I remember it in the phrase “to effect positive change” and it means like “to cause it to happen”. There’s also a noun version of affect that I can’t remember well enough to describe. English is fun.
