my fav thing playing dnd is just having an in character conversation with another character
i could do that for hours we do not need plot we need these two characters to make small talk the entire time

a vaguely inconvenient thing is that how much I enjoy being a player depends a lot on how ~~invested I am in my character but I can’t predict in advance how invested I’ll be

my favorite thing in dnd was planning out my build and optimizing the fighting encounters and my build and winning fights and killing the monsters and evading taking damage and mechanically reigning supreme
