It was Florida yeah. I remember what the road looked like out of the stadium, but I donât remember there being flowers. It does have white clovers but I donât remember those in particular. Oh wow this reminds me. Behind the fence where we used have recess in elementary school, there were these plants with these freaky spiky orange pods growing on them
Theyâre called balsam apples and theyâre poisonous as shit. The seeds are bright red too and they just look like alien plants

when I was in early high school the regular band tried to be a marching band (not exclusively or even primarily high schoolers) and we had, like, a single digit number of practice sessions before ever performing
we were. really bad at it. our lines looked more like Cs or S-es.

Our high school band was really good. We had a record of like 17 years receiving straight superiors in both the marching and concert assessments. We started going to states my freshman year (and didnât do very well), but it was cool because there was actually some buy in and we were really trying to keep pushing ourselves to do better. Freshman and sophomore year we were pretty good.
Anyway, it came out the band director was dating a former student. She was 20 or something and he mustâve been in his 40s with a kid. This girl graduated with my sister and I was a freshman the next year, and they got caught about 1 and half later or something because they were trying to keep it a secret. Idk how shortly after graduation they started dating, but I hope that puts in perspective how short a turnaround it has to have been. I think he divorced his wife to be with this girl. Also her mom was a teacher at the same school.
Oh right so new band director junior year. We did fine but thatâs because he told the freshmen not to play a lot of the time. And my senior year is when things started to go downhill. I think 2 years after I left they got straight Goods or something which is fucking embarrassing. Like yeah Good doesnât sound that bad, but that was like unthinkable when I was there. A band getting a single Good was gossip. It was a scandal. My highschool got straight Goods across 5 categories or whatever. Tragic. The band director quit after that and blamed funding (he had a much bigger budget than the previous one)

I change my I donât wanna actually beef with you, youbie. I was friends with a few clarinet players. I almost dated one. Or two⌠It mightâve been three. I fumbled the bag a lot in highschool.
