Arete have you tried Zalgo text? It doesn’t solve any of your issues and even makes your writing more difficult to read and even creates more problems, but have you tried it?

im not sure if it would help in your case but when i was severally underweight i ate meals at relatively specific times throughout the day

For what it’s worth, I find non-italicized text in the middle of italicized text to be pretty good at differentiating the text involved.
