Both statements are independent and not mutually exclusive. “If” on its own creates a single condition, but it is not necessarily the only condition. “If and only if” establishes that the something is true only when the following condition is true and not in any other contexts.

In other words “Like this post if you’re gay” doesn’t imply “and don’t like it if you’re not”, but “Like this post if and only if you’re gay” does imply “and don’t like it if you’re not”
