So update regarding this: I made the mistake of telling my parents this (like, back when I made this post), and so they have a picture of me with those Genshin cosplayers.
Recently, it came up in a conversation my parents had with some family friends, and now my dad’s asking me if he should play Genshin Impact.

Succeeded in my persuasion check (he has successfully been talked out of playing Genshin Impact).
I am now allowed to spend money on Honkai Star Rail; don’t intend to make use of that, but it’s neat given that “don’t spend money on virtual stuff” has been one of their most consistent stances throughout my entire life.
