Cookie Thread Act 7: Romulus

  • When their amigo is nominated, it is the Gnome’s responsibility to speak up. The Storyteller may not prompt them to use their ability.
  • If their amigo changes alignment, the Gnome’s alignment does not change.
  • The Gnome may use their ability any number of times over the course of the game, including zero. Their amigo may still only be nominated once per day.

‘problematic’

This would actually be ironic, as the raison d’être of the “Defining Bastard” thread was because the definition was vague and different across players and reviewers.

It’s like complaining about something being vague and making a definition for the thing, only to be told to make it vague again because people fear the defined form could be exploited.

there
we’ve done it
we’ve made the least useful statement in history

Ho ho? In other words, if I were to “miraculously” design a setup that “doesn’t appear problematic” but actually is problematic “in hindsight” (e.g., postgame), then it would be fine, right?

(Also, speaking of “games that are bad in hindsight”… *looks at Darkness*)

to be clear I am interested in seeing if the wording can be improved but I am on my break day from taking my ADHD meds so I can like

I prefer making guidelines that leave room for tasteful wiggling. 2 very similar, borderline illegal games can have very different receptions, and the minutiae of strict guides can just make that sort of thing worse when it comes down to actually figuring out what’s okay and what isn’t.

Hell, even chocking it up to intentionality is generally… pretty worthless.

In my opinion, for those with experience – the reviewers-- it comes down to being able to predict the outcomes of whatever dumb stuff is being floated and to compare that against your acceptable allowances.

I mean what do you expect from a character called the Gnome
