i tore IT a new one bc frankly what happened was super fucking distressing and also super fucking preventable with even the bare minimum software quality assurance procedures.

I hope whoever’s job it was to check that gets chewed the fuck out, and if it wasn’t anybody’s job, then I hope they actually put in systems to ensure that can’t happen again

Not gonna lie, in retrospect, I feel like being Subaru from Re:Zero whenever I read my own actions of the past. He was weak and did stupid stuff. He got burnt out and emotionally scarred. Yet he always came back to save as many people as he could.

That’s a deep philosophical question, to which my answer is simply: “It depends.” Surely you don’t expect me to sacrifice the most loyal person to save a hundred backstabbers, or sacrifice a thousand citizens to save one asshole? Regardless of what ideology one follow and what decision they ultimately take, this “question” is not something that can be solved generally to begin with. It’s as stupid as: “What if the best color?”, “What is the prettiest number?”, and “What is the value of your own life?”

If everyone involved are strangers, then wouldn’t the original question be the same as: “How do you want to lose your money? Do you want to lose one gold coin worth [100] or one hundred copper coins each worth [1]?” In the end, you’ll lose anyway.

Heck, a crazy person might even go plus negative ultra and throw everything away. After all, if you’re already losing something big, then you might as well empty yourself and unattach as much as possible, so you won’t be able to be taken advantage of anymore.

that’d be expecting too much from an IT department who wouldn’t let me integrate my personal outlook calendar with my amazon alexa because they “couldn’t be sure of the risks involved”
