huh? why?

Automakers were looking to invest in automation to reduce the cost of the labor. They would not do that if they weren’t planning on having less human labor. The alternative is they would pay them less which is still bad for the laborer.

an artist being commissioned to create a piece of art compared to an artist doing the exact same thing but the commission is targeted to training a model uses very similar skillsets

You wouldn’t commission artists to help make training data. If they could afford to do that, Sam Altman wouldn’t be going for government bodies saying that respecting copyright would bankrupt them. To get the models significantly better than they are now, they need more training data by an order of magnitude or more. Either the artists getting paid for producing training data are getting paid considerably less than they would for a commission that takes same amount of time now, or it’s not economically viable.

its more common when they view the opponent as a possible adversary for several reasons like conserving energy
but sometimes they just dont do it because theyre more curious of the creature than have the desire to kill it
