There it is, that all too familiar sensation of bile rising and a chilling shiver down your spine that only a paralyzing blade can suppress. Yourecognize the small voice in the back of your mind telling you it’s time to wake up, but that voice is being a godsdamn *##!$%@ right now.
Despite this, you muster the strength to pry your eyelids apart, allowing a ghastly light to flood in, searing like countless needles drenched in acid. Definitely not in a pleasant manner.

Gradually, the blinding cloud of suffocating pain dissipates as you regain focus. You find yourself in the heart of a forest that, for the moment, feels unfamiliar to you. A familiar tickle of overindulgence lingers in your throat as the remnants of your stomach’s contents churn and bubble. Judging by the taste in your mouth, those contents consist mainly of ale, pipe smoke, and a rather unpleasant hint of unicorn excrement.

Taking a moment to survey your surroundings, you realize that, magically, your head can still rotate left and right with a surprising level of efficiency. It is during this observation that you notice a perturbed-looking human male, suspended upside down from a branch by his feet, glaring at you with narrowed eyes.

“You @!#&$!#@# left me hanging upside down all night!” he hisses. “My tears have turned to blood.”

Your attention is abruptly drawn to another direction as muffled sounds emanate from a large wooden chest wedged in the lower branches of a nearby tree. Beneath the chest lies a wrecked wagon that once held two shattered barrels of ale, with a single barrel miraculously surviving intact.

Thank the gods for small blessings.
