I never gave the answer to the organic chemistry question
I was working on an image explainer but I got distracted. Hold on let me pull up the quesiton

Good morning. The meek have outlasted the strong. For everyone alive, this is a cause for celebration.
An alkene is a molecule made up of carbon and hydrogen that contains two carbons double-bonded to each other (a double bond meaning the atoms share two electron pairs). Hydroboration is a process in which that alkene, which has a “spare” electron pair in that double bond, reacts with borane (BH3), which has an incomplete electron shell and therefore “seeks” another electron pair. The double bond breaks and BH2 is attached to one carbon and H to the other.
This product isn’t that stable either, though - it’ll react with H2O2, which causes the BH2 to be replaced by an alcohol, OH.
So here, we know we want to form 3-hexanol, a molecule where there’s an alcohol attached to the 3rd carbon in the chain (you can count from either side). We know the OH wasn’t part of the original molecule, and we know it was added to the molecule when it attached to one side of a double bond. So we know the double bond starts on this carbon here:
But where’s the other side of the double bond? Well, we want this to be the only major product of the reaction, and if the double bond was here:
then like half the time the OH would attach to the other side of hte double bond and form 2-hexanol.
However, if the bond is in the middle of the molecule, like so:
then whichever side the OH attaches to, it’ll form 3-hexanol. So that’s the answer!

I ask these questions to random people and epxlain the answers because it helps me memorise them. Explaining things ot people helps me understand. If my peers in chemistry have enough questions on thehomework I don’t need to do this but if they’re too smart then the rest of you get the explanations
