Also their ability was basically the same, just one of them told thruth, the other told lies. (Jaland just added the sheriff part willinilly… I don’t know how Eragon missed that through the whole game. (Well, actually I know… Jal succesfuly bussed all of his teammates, and became a town leader in that game. Neither of them were happy Jal won for them, even without consulting with them the bus attempt, iirc.))
