Backstory:
Nataliya Yanagi was born to Nathaniel Kirchrose and Ryuko Yanagi from a branch of the Yanagi family of mystics living in the rural mountains of Japan. Her mother during her early years was very covetous of her for her magical abilities, seeing her as a ticket to get into the good graces of the main family. Her father, from Germany travelling abroad, hated getting involved in the family intrigue. She lived a reclusive young life in her home town until the age of 12, when her blood curse began to manifest. Her mother, seeing its power, began to become obsessive about the family intrigue. An accident over this involving the loss of her left eye caused her father to leave Japan and move back to Germany – she stayed with her mother, where she lives today. Since the incident, her mother has become more distant to her and gave up her dreams about advancing in the family. She took to drinking more often, and sent Taliya to the public school in her home town instead of grooming her to be the perfect clan leader. Due to entering public school with an eye patch and immediately after a divorce, she was constantly made fun of in the first few weeks and gave up on having friends due to intense social anxiety and a persecution complex surrounding most of the students there. In the last few years, she and her mother have opened up to each other about things, and she considers her mother her only friend and is working together with her to overcome her alcohol addiction.Her curse, the Blood of the Moonchild, makes her blood to adapt to strong psychic forces, allowing her to control it telekinetically both inside and outside her body. It also causes her physical form to respond to her emotions (usually by her features becoming more wolf-like, especially pronounced when angry or depressed), which she can’t control very well when not wearing her wards. Other people making contact with her blood temporarily (or permanently in very extreme cases) gain the second of these effects as well as the forced experience of a shard of her fractured psyche. As a result of this curse, her blood is an iridescent purple.
Miscellaneous Description(s):
She blames her curse on her parents’ divorce, and has severe self esteem issues with having it. She has crippling social anxiety and sees herself as less valuable than other humans because of it. She is very secretive of it at school, and very few people know about it other than the aura of darkness around her stifled by her ceremonial dagger.
