Yep! People were working off a nightkill in isolation, just taking lol’s death and trying to analyze that without keeping their pre-existing scumreads in mind. (It was lol, right? I’m not misremembering?) It was irritating me because 1. a nightkill alone isn’t going to strongly point to someone as scum, there’s too much WIFOM 2. I had thought at the time that lol was killed for obvtowning, not any of their particular opinions.
However, once you think you have a scumteam built, as I do, it’s useful to take nightkills and see if they slot in to your theories to make sure they don’t actively contradict anything. That’s what I was saying in that second post. I can’t look at a lol or Magnus NK and say “this was definitely SK, this was definitely Leafia”, but I can go and say “yes, SK and Leafia would definitely have motive to do this”.
Does that make sense? In a detective novel, all the suspects are going to have some kind of motive, so you can’t use motive alone to determine the culprit, but if someone has their motive invalidated, you can knock them off the process of elimination, and evidence starts to point to a suspect, you can examine their motive to make sure it still checks out.
Then claimed memory issue like May is.
