Can they at least say “Join mafia chat, unless a shot has been submitted earlier and the host just hasn’t gotten on to resolve it yet?”
also uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh time for timezone angleshooting
well
I guess I was assuming the dayvig resolves instantly, when that’s not necessarily true
does it?
[sorry for asking this many questions but NYAAAAAAAAAAAAA its fun to think about thbthtbhtbthbt]
When the mafia give the cop to a townie, are they required to submit their choice before action deadline?

Zone_Q11:
Zugzwang:
the cop must be given to a player who lives that phase
Standard rule is to disallow targeting dead players.
Zugzwang:
if their top choice gets executed
Sounds niche. I’m allowing this as a valid strategy.

I would imagine they would be required to do so, but the wording here:

- The third Mafia member to enter Mafia Chat will be forced to choose to give a Town member a 1-Shot Alignment Cop. If nobody is chosen by the end of the phase when the last Mafia joined, then a random Town member will be chosen instead.
seems to imply otherwise

at least
No.

dayvig resolves instantly
Correct.

When the mafia give the cop to a townie, are they required to submit their choice before action deadline?
Yes for both alignments.
('Cuz IDK who “they” is in this context.)

Please elaborate with examples.

Co-hosted by ???
This is probably going to be me, unless someone else steps up to the plate.
Yup. Either you, Leafia, or me.
(Imagine: “Hosted by Zone. Co-hosted by Zone.”)
Need to run the math on it, but mafia optimal start could be:
- Split the player list into three sections (5-4-5) and determine if you’re in Section 1, 2, or 3.
- Get the public RNG number for the time of the game’s start. If it equals 100, look at the next number (and keep going until you find a not-100 number).
- Take that number % 3. If the remainder equals your section number - 1, join mafia chat. Else, wait. For example, if you’re Section 2 and the number is 64, 64 % 3 = 1 = 2 - 1, so you should join mafia chat.
this assumes that every mafia member is going to understand how to do this, which they assuredly will not
i think it’s a neat setup in terms of the psychology though
probably provides some interesting fodder for starting day 1
agree I’m not interested in playing the setup but I think the initiative to innovate different mechanics is good and this one is nearly successful
biggest issue is the dayvig being negative utility
Two dayvigs!

the initiative to innovate different mechanics is good
Thank you. I have been doing this for a long time, but then with roles instead of the setup itself. (Recently I have been trying to do the latter as well though.)

this one is nearly successful
Pain…

Pain…
Me when FM is a permenant iterative design cycle:

Please elaborate with examples.
- mafia member joins the chat during the day

- The third Mafia member to enter Mafia Chat will be forced to choose to give a Town member a 1-Shot Alignment Cop. If nobody is chosen by the end of the phase when the last Mafia joined, then a random Town member will be chosen instead.
- they choose after action deadline, but by the end of the phase, as required here

they choose after action deadline
So basically this all comes down to the question: “Is choosing an action?” In ASTT, I didn’t count choosing as an action, meaning it can’t be blocked, but in this game, I will say it is an action.
And since I say that choosing is an action, any choices made past the action deadline is invalid.

If the plan is to have anyone in a given section use the dayvig immediately, you give information to town about whether there is a mafia in the first section to be chosen
I’m assuming the dayvig isn’t used for all the reasons established earlier.

I’m assuming the dayvig isn’t used for all the reasons established earlier.
oh
in that case I guess that strategy might be sound theoretically, if your goal is to get 1-2 wolves in wolfchat but not 3?
Practically though, I’d imagine someone’s decision to join or not join wolfchat would be based more on their playstyle and skills
