GOAT^2 - Game Thread (5/15) - Day 6 - Mafia wonnered

oh you mean me pushing and killing people who’d directly call me out. uhhh one that’s implying that i am able to convince whoever my wolf partner could be to solely focus on kills that would benefit me, and two that i’m also not confident in my ability to fake out people as wolf into hard believing i’m town into lylo

also if i had successfully killed off all of my biggest threats i would have a lot more wim for today

Tbh I haven’t looked so

I don’t get the logic of silencing someone who literally says you should never be executed though. It’d be way better to kill someone who is widely townread, or at the very least scumreading you.

i mean i do get the logic of that. “the person who townread [x] is dead but the person who scumread [x] is alive so scum must not be [x] and is instead setting town up to mislynch them”

but in that case i’d have killed you unless we’ve been openwolfing partners since d1 which i think no one here would have an easy time accepting

I loooove nightkill speculation but I usually base it, like, not on specific opinions the dead townie has, but on… undue focus, if that makes sense? Wolves have a whole wide world of options on D1, so they can only focus their attention on a few particular targets, and you can see the patterns of that attention. It sidesteps the WIFOM, as long as you’ve not previously brought up this style of NK analysis.

I had a game recently where someone tried to go for an “oh the wolves totally killed XYZ sus person to frame me” about the N1 kill. Yes, whether a frame kill is one or a double-bluff or a triple-bluff is impossible to tell, but going for any level of frame on some random townie is unrealistic. It betrays the mafia’s undue focus on themselves. That’s what I’m seeing here with the Min kill.

personally I think NKs are full of WiFOM and there isn’t a whole lot of use you can gain from analyzing them, esp since oyu seem to be analyzing them to fit the narrative of KT scum instead of looking at it from a social perspective and then seeing if the NKs also make sense.

I think if you’re voting KT only based off NKs then that is a really bad reason to vote KT. If you had social reasons I could understand but only using NKs is full of potential for conf bias

okay counterpoint: the only reason i reacted to min’s legacy at all was because i was explaining to brad how to read it once they expressed confusion. if i wanted to bring min up to defend myself from a wolf pov i’d have gone over their legacy first thing

half these people aren’t even playing the same gameeee

I do have social reasons, which I’ve brought up. In a haze of sickness, but out there nonetheless. The way he treats votes is really “push misvote early in the day, distance, move off the wagon later”, the way they haven’t fuckin died yet, et cetera. It’s a strong instinct. If I find his partner, I’ll call it a solve.

I still really think we should kill Eliza today, and I will say that KT had a very towny D1. I’d be down to reconsider later, but where we are rn in the game I don’t see a good reason to start reconsidering my townreads.

@Lemonfairy Hey, you’re town and good at game, thoughts on the KT slot? I’ve got a gut read that they’re scum and I’ve made a bit of a case on him if you’ll scroll up.

Hi, another townie D1 haver here! It doesn’t mean shit & also his D1 wasn’t that townie but I haven’t properly cased it yet so I’ll forgive your opinion here it’s fair

Cool case that makes sense and made me go from “Eliza probably town → Null read on Eliza”, but I haven’t properly seen how Eliza fits into the game yet, so I don’t feel great making a call. With what I did read, she had a lot of potential partners, and that makes me feel weird about voting her off first. It feels uninformative and I’m not confident in her wolfiness.

His D1 was p towny and so was yours. It’s why I still kinda townread you even if you’ve trended a bit downwards admittedly. He never trended downwards for me and I can follow of his logic and ideas. I’ve said this before, but I mindmelded with him so many times D1 that I would struggle to ever see king as scum.
