∘ ☙ Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler Mafia -- NIGHT FOUR (6/15) ❧ ∘

Catbae likely dies tonight so it’s important to regard the plausibly living slots to make sure there aren’t any random easy misexecutions or misclears, it’s all good. Good luck with the future!

Tutuu didn’t respond for ages following this declaration and cited a failure to read it as the cause; but natheless of weak defence, I think this is unpairing between Chomps/Tutuu as the former presumably would’ve informed the latter to react in the communal wolf world.

Chomps’ reasoning to suspect Kiiruma was weird, asking him to intentionally “act” more natural by performatively spacing posts apart, and sorta dropped this line of attack promptly afterwards. They then sorted Ishmael into their scumread slot immediately after being corrected by town, which is hugely innocent in comparison. In fact, so’s the random jump onto Bystander (I don’t think this is innately unpairing given the individual, it’s just that random accusations and votes without reason typically ring from a villager slot who doesn’t care).

Asking to hear the case on Marluna might be unpairing though, it’s that sort of awkward behaviour which I tend to avoid as evil since it looks associative so I’d imagine Chomps would leave it as well.

Oh right, Chomps claimed Ishmael’s ability feedback aloud instead of leaving it in the air forever, Chomps is town sure.

Oh, right.
So Marluna has to die before Lol in any situation before F3 to determine whether her claim is correct, because she visited Lol. If it’s a harmful ability as Mafia, atop the other conditions, Lol is town. So thusly:

To respect your fellow gamblers, you must treat them as worthy competitors and make yourself a worthy competitor in return. If you go easy on an opponent, you show that you have no faith in their skill, and you prevent them from becoming more skilled by compromising their ability to learn from their mistakes. The kindest possible treatment is complete ruthlessness; to hold back is nothing but cruelty. Everybody, no matter their status or skill, deserves the pleasure of facing off against the best of the best. Do not let weak-minded people tell you otherwise.

This academy is structured to ensure its graduates are truly fit for a life of excellence. Taking risks, bluffing, and recovering from bad outcomes are all crucial skills in government and in the corporate world. Our school’s structure ensures that only the truly deserving are able to make it through. There is no need to shed tears for those who fail.

Itsuki Sumeragi: Double Concentration

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

Double Concentration is a simple matching game. On your opponent’s turn, they flip over a couple of cards, looking for a match, and you keep an eye on their moves: once their turn is over, you will use the information they reveal against them. With careful observation, you’ll be able to match up the cards easily. There’s a little trick up your sleeve, but that’s nothing unusual. Everybody cheats.

The unconventional part of this game isn’t the gameplay, it’s the stakes. Some may settle for merely financially ruining their opponents, turning them into a house pet who will likely never recover their humanity. You will certainly do that, but it isn’t enough for you. You’d like to keep a little souvenir in your collection to remember them by.

Ability: Each night, select a player and describe their role. If you are mostly correct, steal their abilities, turn them vanilla, and lose this ability. You will appear to investigatives as the role (but not the alignment) that you stole.

Gamble Won: Gain another usage of your theft ability, allowing you to steal another role. You may choose one role to register as and use the abilities of each phase. After you have stolen two abilities this way, you stop vanillaizing players you target, though you may still copy their abilities.

You may also use the gamble ability of your stolen role as normal.

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

You win when the mafia reach parity with the remaining players and defeat any other players with opposing win conditions.

Your faction grants you access to the following abilities:

Factional Kill: Each night, the mafia may select a player to kill. This kill is optional and assigned, and it may be performed alongside other actions.

Factional Gamble Abilities: If a mafia member places a bet on a town-aligned player who is executed that day, they will receive a boosted night action. Mafia members will not receive boosted night actions from the execution of other mafia members. If multiple mafia members bet on the same player, the mafia must choose one player to receive the boost.

Feedback will be sent to all students shortly. Actions are due by 2024-11-25T20:00:00Z, two hours before classes begin at 2024-11-25T22:00:00Z.

Even a game with completely fair odds can be “rigged”, in a way. Those with more resources can always absorb a loss and keep betting, buying more and more chips until they finally make a win. However, this does not mean somebody without a large pool of funds is completely without hope. With careful planning, determination, and a willingness to take big risks, an opponent’s means can be used against them. In the grand scheme of things, the most skilled gamblers will always float to the top.

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

Night Three ends.

Another student has been found dead last night. As the Student Council has stated many times to date, unworthy gamblers who fear for their own safety may wish to avoid participating in after-school gambles. Other students need not worry.

Magnus has died.

Mary Saotome: Vote Rock Paper Scissors

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

Vote Rock-Paper-Scissors is a simple game that ensures players take accountability for their actions. Every night, every player in the game will write down who they targeted with their role on a card and place it in a sealed box. Every day, you’ll draw three of those cards to see a few players who were visited last night.

There’s a twist, though: most the students in the room are under your thumb, and they were watching while players created their supposedly-secret cards. If you see a suspicious visit, you can slip it to one of your lackeys, and they’ll let you know who put that card in the box, and if you manage to win a big gamble against another player, you’ll even have the resources to send a house pet out to investigate that person and figure out what it was they were up to.

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

Ability: Each night, learn who three random players visited with their role this cycle, anonymized. During the first half of the next day, select one card to learn who the visit belongs to. You will receive your feedback at mid-day. You cannot see factional or item-based actions. Dead players will appear to visit no one.

Gamble Won: Learn what action resolution category the selected visit fell into (investigative, protective, manipulative, killing, or other).

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

You win when only town-aligned players live.

An additional reminder that all students, no matter their status, must follow the rules of the academy. Failure to participate in classes or after-school life will result in expulsion or worse.

Kirari Momobami: Tarot Cards of Fate

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

You’ve built yourself a perfect aquarium of a high school, and there’s one fish you’ve had your eye on for quite some time. But you can’t engage right away. Stay back, watch from afar, and let her take down your Student Council members one by one. Bide your time and prepare for your meeting. When you finally do go head-to-head with your opponent, it will be a fair fight. You select a battleground, you both bet it all, and you let the dice decide. The loser will give up the thing they love the most for the rest of their life: the thrill of placing a bet.

Ready to gamble?

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

Ability: Once per game, during the night, select a player. Tomorrow, during the first half of the day, you will publicly play a fair game of your choice against them. The game must involve chance in some capacity (though it may also involve strategy, e.g. Blackjack would be acceptable), may not involve game mechanics (such as voting or role actions), and may be vetoed by the host if it would not be feasible to run. The loser of this game becomes a house pet and loses all abilities. If an invalid game is submitted or the game is not completed by mid-day, Tarot Cards of Fate, a purely random game, will be automatically played.

Gamble Won: Your vote publicly counts for double the following day, unless the mafia would reach parity on an incorrect execution.

⚬ ♧ ⚬ ♢ ⚬ ♤ ⚬

You win when only town-aligned players live.

As compensation, the mafia will receive an additional kill on Night Four. Do not discuss game management actions such as requests for replacement, modkills, or compensation publicly.
