yeah the Counts are stereotypes of someone (not the person)
i just don’t know who
someone that is treated with suspicion by everyone else

And they come from the Phoenicians, who were the masters of trade before that

Augustin’s face twists in pained rage.

“Maybe, County, you should lie.”

Tears start welling in his eyes. He clutches his sash.

“Maybe it would be more respectful to pretend to be loyal rather than tell everyone how much of a backstabbing, pathetic, greedy, disloyal monster you are.”

Spitting the words out, he meets Marissa’s gaze softly. His grimace turns to a frown of determination. Still crying, he tries to brush the tears off his face as he spins around and starts walking towards the door.

Augustin leaves the room without looking back.

Pathetic and Greedy, sure. Backstabbing and disloyal, however? Seems as if you are just saying insults with no regard for the target. I never backstab, and I am fiercely loyal to my nation. Remember, this all started because YOU dared challenge the might of the Count’s farms, forcing us to invest elsewhere. That’s much more in line with “pathetic”, in my opinion

Ya uh… I’ll be real here, Marissa has a point.
I ain’t spending a dime, but I’m on her side when it comes to the argument.

(oh yeah augustin is being super immature here, im not pretending he’s not)

An iron-clad woman rushes into the room, and looks at… oh. Ophelia’s chair is empty. She left. A shame. She rushes out through the door, again.
