all of these are relatively common examples of ‘fundamentally broken’ roles in FoL history
with the exception of exactly Sauron, I don’t think the definition works
with Sauron, it works because conversion is a fundamentally broken mechanic
i like the mechanic but it fundamentally breaks the fundamental gameplay loop of mafia, in that town approaches mafia’s information lead as the game goes on

outside of its ability to win the game if people activate the funny condition (and its ability to do that while dead), lying darkness is quite weak
its deal action has run before and people almost always refuse the deal

it is a bulletproof godfather serial killer otherwise and that’s not particularly impressive

This much I am willing to admit.

That does not excuse the bad social side effect of the “funny” win condition i.e., the majority of all players throwing the game and triggering the supposedly late-game-relevant game-ending ability at Day 1.
