like. plenty of people just incidentally believe the end of the world is soon. but it becomes an apocalypse cult when every single thought and ideology is bent towards the notion of the apocalypse. the end becomes a totalising notion that is used in order to enforce behaviour by the leaders of the totalising organisation

itâs also a nice heuristic for ensuring your own lines of thinking donât fall into that same trap. if you begin to believe that your beliefs require applying a singular form of rhetoric to everything, if you feel your entire life must be structured around that rhetoric, that has to be something you treat carefully
doesnât necessarily mean you canât, you know, believe things, that you canât have deeply held beliefs, obviously not. but you should take caution if you believe youâve found a framework that answers every question
