okay random anecdote but remember that game i keep talking about
the girl on the left often gets shipped with the guy on the right from what ive seen. (she is also one of my favorite characters but that’s unrelated). the guy on the right is actually involved with a different girl and never once expresses romantic interest in her (but they are decidedly best friends)
the girl on the left is also very obviously a lesbian to me
HOWEVER, it is Technically Plausible that she’s bi since it’s never directly mentioned.
most people assume that she is bi because a few characters frequently make fun of her for “being interested” in some boy (who is only depicted in in-universe pictures)
but i think it’s pretty obvious that this is like, the boy she thought she was interested in before she realized she was a lesbian and the characters tease her because they’re her best fucking friends and it’s banter. Like not once does she express interest in any other boy and even when she’s getting teased about this guy she vehemently denies it!!!
so i think the people shipping her into a STRAIGHT relationship are cringe. But i do think the people who are doing that but like, not romantic are based because these people are very good characters and canonically very much best friends it’s just very much not romantic either
