The closest I got to playing with my cat is moving around the kitchen table in a way that makes them walk to try to get to me

It’s not fair!!!

Honestly i was never religious but im starting to get it. As i grow older im starting to fear death more. Worried about death often. Believing that you dont die but you go somewhere better or get reincarnated must take a lot of anxiety off your shoulders. Must be nice. Not having anxiety can improve your life. So this is one way of religion being able to improve your life, emotional support for anxiety

“Keep people within” makes it sound all sad and gloomy. I dont think evey religious person is this acolyte cultist who is being manipulated and forced to do stuff out of fear of punishment. I think that there are intelligent and free people who do it by choice

(/srs: obviously not all religions are extreme as the given example but like. fear of death is still one of the things that keeps people attached to religion things, because the religion assuages them. which isn’t bad!
it’s just that it’s bad when it becomes a strict regiment, a set of absolute rules you have to follow, a leader to worship*. it’s bad when it’s used as a tool to stop your autonomy and independent thought, basically.
which tends to be what happens when it becomes what my friends call an Institution. not sure if that word has a specific definition that doesn’t fit. but either way practicing your own weird set of beliefs and traditions is 10x better than blindly following a large organization, or basically anything larger than you and a few people you know. just do your own shit man. even if you don’t Really believe in these kinds of things they can offer a similar comfort to organized religion)

*and yes, people who aren’t Directly worshipped but claim to be able to speak for the guy who is being worshipped count, do not ask why he cannot speak for himself
