I’m not sure, but the discussion today has involved wondering about a factional and how that might affect the game.
However, I’m not as convinced about that anyway. If the claimvig didn’t kill beancat, then it would really be for Owls to hide from a Watcher as far as I can see.
I just find it odd that Osie will answer about how the claimvig doesn’t have to be exact, but won’t give a straight answer for whether those would be equivalent as far as roles. Feels like he doesn’t want to give something away.

He’s been intentionally vague with almost everything and I don’t really see how trying to figure out what was going on with the dead neut is relevant, unless you think it just worked like a normal CL and he converted someone, which we have basically no way of telling
Hmmm, I was just recalling that beancat maybe claimed to have a claimvig. And yeah, he did say this…
So I think the rule works that you had to have true claimed to get the claimvig, so maybe his reveal was taken as a true claim
The point was to figure out if Owls is telling the truth about claimvigging beancat, or if he did the factional and is just claiming that to account for anyone watching beancat. Since there were watcher items going around also. I know they supposedly expired, but maybe there could be others.
However, if beancat did receive a claimvig item as well, then I guess his claim was taken as close enough to the real role

I hate having to reread my posts to look for the T word. I got prodded a bunch for it already. It’s easy to not use the M word, but the T word is troublesome.

Ohhhh, so actually he was Cult Leader at the time, and just converted before the flip
So for the claimvig, Cult Leader was correct. He just changed to Mathematician afterwards and that’s what we were shown.

No, he was Neutral Mathematician but was saying he’d convert to Mafia Mathematician
But i think osie just interpreted it as him claiming mathematician regardless, alignment irrelevant
Oh, so that’s how he got the claimvig item. But still hard to say if Cult Leader is equivalent to Mathematician. Or are you saying that Osie also took those as equivalent?

It’d make sense that claiming alignment wouldn’t be relevant for the rule, because otherwise scum could not gain them (easily) and I think flavor has never included alignment.
