as a strategist/psychologist would you say it’s fairly normal for you to consider how others might be approaching solving a game?

I would say so, yeah.
This would be a combo which is more thinking about people’s general motivations and general thread situation and try to compare if it makes sense.
Abusing Wind’s post - I usually do not do reads based on people’s posting, nor do I create readlist.
And that’s why solving for me comes to rereading people and analyzing theirs game aproach, instead of just spam posting and hope to find posts I like (like most people here do).

I’m taking down my original target and then the_worst
I see how many people are focusing on our slot now and it’s basically making me know I have an uphill battle upcoming in this game which idk if I’m ready for. But the_worst just casually going with voting me out after I’ve been sussing them and Brad all games is so good to me.
Mafia players theory explanation
Strategist - analyzyes game as a big picture, usually can explain theirs arguments to logicians and psychologists, does not make illogical decisions and not prone to paranoia.
On a downfall - tends to think 3 steps ahead and thus might forget about current moment.
For example - me
Logicians - Able to perceive most types of logical arguments, focus at situation at current moment
On a downfall - have a problem when there is not enough information, or if target has decent alibi / deceives them.
For example - majority of how this site learnt to play due to “chat” form of this forum.
And why D1 lynches are very hard for this site, or why strong wolf teams can easilly make town implode.
Mathematician - Here goes both setup solving, as well as making all kind of associations. They tend to connect niecly with Logician and strategists, being able to find arguments and understand them. Consistent, but need big amount of interactions and data to solve.
They also tend to be oveconfident when following theirs vision. (Like having being sure on one scum makes them keep building more and more teams around it).
Psychologists - Focus on psychological and motivational part of other players. Able to effectively take part in the game since the very begining (and idealy, they should be leaders on day 1 if we go into mafia strategy). Can understand logical arguments, but are sometimes struggling to create theirs own. Are more prone to error due to misunderstanding someone’s emotions.
Intuit - Literal oposite to logicians - cannot express theirs opinion, but can play effectively without any information. Best understood by psychologists, who can understand theirs “feelings”.
Difference between them and psychologist is that psychologist try to unedrstand people’s motivations and aproach, while intuit “feels” theirs reads.
Intuits can be easilly influenced by others and are struggling when defending theirs reads, obviously.
For example - Derps.
Paranoid - Type of player which is very sure about theirs own reads. They have hard time taking arguments. Can go into their read against anyone else, regardless of arguments. Sometimes far from reality. Very dangerous for scum if correct. And pretty much playing against town if not.
For example - Leafia
Obviously, examples are not ideal, as every player is a mix of those archetypes and possibly something outside of those.
But you can see how it apply more or less.
