We arenât calling you scummy because you arenât posting much. Weâre calling you scummy because those posts donât contain much content, also known as game related thoughts. In mafia, and especially in a game like this, itâs incredibly important to share your thoughts constantly and try to make yourself clearly town. Assuming you are town, that is. If youâre mafia, your objectives are slightly different.

What is keeping you from having much to share? Where are you struggling to obtain reads on players? If you are actually town, I want to help you as much as I can.
i donât do reads anywhere, most of the time i use gut feeling and maybe try to check someoneâs tone
If you think about it this way, in this game you know two players are town. The player holding the gun, of course, and yourself. You have absolutely no reason to believe anybody else is actually town. The only thing you have are guesses they are town. If itâs ever between you and another player, you should go after the other player because you know you are town. You can never be absolutely sure another player is town unless they are mechanically confirmed to be so.
Thatâs a type of read, and a completely valid one! If you have a bad gut feeling about someone, pursue that and share that! You donât have to hide your gut reads or tone reads. My read on Achro and Treasure were both based on my gut, and they were both scum. Any read you have on a player is going to come from one place, your gut. In a setup like this, you should be trusting your gut and using that to read players.

Thatâs understandable. Itâs really hard to play with a group of people where you know none of them.
There are many ways to play forum mafia and find mafia players as town. You can probably find a lot of resources online which tell you the objectively correct way to play mafia and how to have an amazing success rate scum hunting, etc etc. Truth is, there is no correct way to play forum mafia. Obviously, donât gamethrow or anything like that, but there is no âbestâ way to play forum mafia. There is no method you have to follow. There is no formula to success.
What I typically do to find mafia is to look at how they are aligned with other players and look at their past meta. This⌠has not worked well in the slightest for me. Thatâs why Iâve decided to play on an alt this game and switch up my scumhunting methods. Iâve been looking more at the agenda players are pushing this game, and where each player is trying to direct the shot. If they seem to be trying to take a strong grip on the shot, or seem to be constantly suggesting town players, Iâm going to scumread that person. This has worked fairly well so far.
If you donât know what to do, if you donât know what to say, if youâre not sure if your expectations: stop caring. Just start posting. Say Eliza is scum because you donât like the name Eliza. Take a perspective and try and figure out if that works. See if you can find a method that you think will lead you to the mafia.
