At least we can feel superior watching it, then.

Found the first episode on Youtube. Why care about forming alliances and manipulating others prerand?

Cuz theyre dumb

I also hate the prerand elimination idea, but the game itself seems cool. Mafia LARPing.

Is it actually rand? If alignments are assigned, pregaming makes sense.

Yes, I will give vampire a 1-shot conversion and yes, you WILL like it

Have u got to the bit where they toast to the innocent and one person doesnt toast.

So they think because she didnt hold up her glass she must be a traitor.

And they overlook the fact that she literally only has one hand.

I saw that part.

update: i watched the first episode

this doesnā€™t spoil anything about how the game plays out so i donā€™t really think it needs a spoiler warning since itā€™s mainly just commentary on the mechanics/strategy

tfw 17v3 force randed mountainous (but town donā€™t know number of wolves) with ?-shot vengeful conversions but town only wins if they survive so everyone wants to be mafia + thereā€™s little incentive to be loud and work together since you donā€™t want to get nightkilled. the force-randing is understandable for the purpose of like, intentional diversity so that the wolves have a good spread in terms of the types of people they can mingle with since it is a reality show (and you can pretty much tell this was the intentional due to the fact that each wolf is a member of the 3 main social groups). and itā€™s funny because this is technically angleshootable, as with any sort of force-rand, especially in this case since the players know it was force-randed because they were literally interviewed on whether they would make a good town/wolf to help the host decide

but it is interesting to see even people with no mafia experience aligning their strategies with the actual mafia meta
like one of the wolves said that heā€™s going to kill those that heā€™s buddied with so people donā€™t suspect him.

now i donā€™t know how true the whole ā€œmaking reads early is >rand wolfā€ thing actually is but i find it funny that in this game the first players to make accusations or point out suspicious behaviour were wolves (the accusation against the one-handed lady who didnā€™t raise her glass was made by a wolf)

i wonder if they vet people for mafia experience
probably not even necessary because mafia players are extremely rare but you would have a huge advantage as town with experience mainly due to the sort of things you could angleshoot with regards to the force rand

Also town got told about the vengeful conversions so it literally makes no sense but they said there was a condition for it which is probably talked about later (but realistically this condition is probably ā€œstopping the game ending too soon for the show to be profitableā€)

it was actually pretty entertaining but iā€™ve only watched day 1 (which had no elimination) so i havenā€™t had to watch town rip each other apart yet

just a few dumb gutreads which happens in actual mafia too
