anyways i can talk about a lot of individual decisions in the art because unlike previous ones this art was loaded with visual motifs

for example in all the mafia rolecards, the eyes in the background are looking at them
in lucianā€™s image, theyre looking away

lucian was specifically chosen to be a meowstic because of the extra eyes motif though i wanted them to be gender neutral so that made it slightly harder lol

the use of the tarot cards as a motif isnā€™t just because theyre cool

lucain ā€œblessesā€ (manipulates) their victims through a tarot reading, specifically by distorting their view of the future. the point of a tarot reading is to tell you the future, and thatā€™s what they do

exactly how they achieved this for each individual deathkissed is hinted at in their rolecard blurb, which is written as if spoken by lucain
