There is no logical wolfy motivation to claim. Town Lol is either

Fake claiming to provide cover and eat a Night Kill which is towny since any PR worth a shit knows not to CC here.

Or telling the truth which is most likely. This means Lol knows the mafia suspected him of being a PR. He knows the game is Mountainous and more importantly he knows that by claiming not only is he an IC that should never be reasonably pushed but a few things happen.

Town gains more info. Whereas the reasons to kill Caitlin could include PR hunting by outing here towns collective pool of wolfs decreases by 1 and now also every night kill going forwards is always readable in the purest mafia sense.

Wolf Lol is not being pushed the necessity to trade 1 for 1 in this position to kill a town PR in this set up is miniscule. Lol is a damn fine wolf who trusts his play. There’s zero reason you make this play.

I’m putting words in Lols mouth maybe I shouldn’t do that. I’m basing this off my rationale for turning champs quals 1 into mountainous by outing my PR d2. It was highly effective.

Either way if you try to justify the play from a town or wolf perspective you should realize that this is only a town play. Always.

I doubt anyone was gonna ask me why I specifically picked lol as my fake target, but just in case, it’s because I figured to be realistic i had to pick someone in my poe, someone I thought was not the encryptor if I wanted to fake out the wolves, and even better if I picked someone I thought had at least a small amount of cop equity if they were town, because it would throw wolves off their scent if they thought I was actually the cop.

So uh, here we are.

This feels out of place to me. Like… unnecessary and wordy to explain something that at least I was never worried about so it feels preemptively defensive for no reason.

No need to be quiet about it. He claimed vanillized. If he’s actually the cop, he’s definitely vanillized. If he’s not the cop, wolves know he’s lying already and they’re gonna ignore him. And there’s no way he claims vanillized cop as a wolf himself because eventually, in all likelihood the real cop would probably come out and claim when they get vanillized or they’d get killed eventually.

So lol would be playing a mostly pointless gambit as a non-vanillized cop, VT, or wolf (and as a wolf it’s just plain risky).

unless wolves happened to target exactly him with the vanillizer, then wolves will know he isn’tt the cop and so he won’t eat the nightkill or anything, and will just get cc’ed later, as well as causing a bunch of people to spew themselves as VT. So I think the level 1 read is that this is actually wolfy from lol, and I don’t really think it’s wolfy to push him for these reasons

If he’s wolf he’s never encryptor and trading 1 for 1 here is awful.
