Two Rooms and a Boom Part 2: Avengers Level Threat - canned

also marshal and cyanide made a code which resulted in me and cyanide meeting to do the doc/pres share so i thought that was veyr helpful if marshal was spy

nyaaaaaa I think this would work well as a turbo

I think there’s Sects and Violets problems here where there’s just too much time to coordinate in longform and it makes strategies substantially different

yea

Like if two people know each other are on a given team they can create a code and then it’s impossible to hide information from them

Incredibly frustrating to play against because a key part of the game is not knowing every single player’s role. It also makes the game intensely miserable for anybody with card sharing restrictions because everybody else is able to have complete information synchronisation so there’s literally no reason to ever talk to you except to tell you who to vote

Like “separate the bomber and the engineer and be very careful who’s sent where so they can’t find each other” could work in shortform but it was essentially impossible to pull off in longform because as soon as one red meets with somebody then it’s shared in code in public and every confirmed red in the room knows it

Felt scummy even doing the “copy and paste debrief to make the meeting look short” with Hippo because come on that’s not how it’s supposed to work

I had like most of the solve by the end :pensive:

If I’d made a code with Carroty then the game would’ve been a lot easier for us but I didn’t want to I don’t like it it’s unpleasant for the game

(And I just didn’t think about it, because again I was imagining the game as something with unavoidable information restrictions)

In my opinion, creating a code in this kind of game is basically cheating because it basically gives you meetings…everywhere (and when it’s two teams that matters insanely because it becomes super easy to become omnscient)

you did make a code with me may to signal me whos the engineer or who knows the engineer

Correction: I was going to use it in a situation where I needed to waste your whispers, which was the plan if people who knew Icet was the Engineer came into a room you were in

code / hinting can be as subjective as claiming vs anti-claim mechanic in mafia. asking people to not do it could lead to frustration / subjectivity when ruling who did it and who not. the least frustrating thing it happens in mafia is if wolves are given anti-claim, although there is a degree of subjectivity there too. it depends. host in this game can make a rule “no codes” but you could hint so slightly / gently that you could reasonably argue its not a code if a person accuses you of breaking the rule. so if we were to have a game with no hinting that wasn’t frustrating for people it would need to have punishment for hinting that isn’t the host’s subjective decision. but i have no idea how that could work

I tried to intentionally act as shady as possible w/ Marshal just to see if it worked. I didn’t particularly care for her alignment after I was informed we have basically won already, though.
