Weekly Monday Discussion #2

There are certain crypots which are guaranteed by monetary funds, which makes them actual “Currency”, but they are far and between.
Not to mention most of them are not published for general use.

All the most famous cryptos which fluctuate heavilly in price are not secured by anything at all.
Basicly you pay for owning computer numbers.

And if suddenly noone wants to buy them, you will not be able to withdraw them.

yep! this is why the common image of NFTs is of those randomised picrew drawings, because they don’t cost much but can potentially create huge amounts of money by the speculative nature of the systems, even if not many people buy in, because those images usually have some extra element to them that implies them to more be… well, shares in a company that doesn’t exist yet- a lot of whitepapers for NFT projects say that in the future the token-holders will run a hedge fund, or a DAO (i am not getting into DAOs they’re also shit but for technical reasons that i quite frankly am technically literate enough to understand but not explain), which thus provides an excuse for making the urls overpriced

this is not inherrent to blockchains as a system but arose entirely from financial incentives related to them

oh also cryptobros are cringe + L + ratio + maidenless + im gay + mid + ratio

I do agree with eevee that the current price wall is too high, and we can achieve more with more nfts with lower prices if the goal is to both generate revenue and increase visibility.

If “increase visibility” is not one of the intended goals of the NFTs, then would requiring a patreon membership not result in the same outcome with less hurdles?
