Anyway why do every fantasy book gotta spend their first 20 pages describing their magical world instead of just going down to the story?

If magic is explained to the finest detail and people understand how it becomes technology at that point. I like magic in media where it’s not explained how it works, its more magical
so, the thought process was “I will determine peoples alignments off the first few posts” → “oh. I cannot do this” → “give up and skip to end”? is this right?

But every book need to start somewhere, and some authors like info dumping in the first few chapters…

I’m playing around with this in my head and can’t put together a mindset that works
Creature needs to expect the remaining ~100 or so posts to also be similarly unreadable, so this should indicate a struggle to make reads during RVS in general
but then also, Creature very easily votes Chomps, despite presumably not having seen most of the relevant posts, which makes sense only if Creature does actually make reads quickly off of little content?

I guess I am alright with it if the world is introduced while the story is already being told. I only take an issue when it’s written like an encyclopedia.
